2 Islands in Haa Alif Atoll

If you're seeking an authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience in the Maldives, complete with expansive white sandy beaches, vibrant marine life, and minimal crowds, then the program featuring the islands of the northern Haa-Alif atoll is tailor-made for you: Kelaa and Vashafaru.

The program entails visits to both Kelaa and Vashafaru islands, with the option to include a resort hotel as a third destination if desired.

Kelaa Island

Kelaa, the first stop on the itinerary, boasts a standout feature: its vast, pristine white sandy beach with turquoise waters and a picturesque sandy lagoon, ranking among the largest in the Maldives. In 2017, Kelaa Beach received recognition as the best beach in the Maldives at the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators awards ceremony.

Covering an area of over two hundred hectares, Kelaa is relatively sizable by Maldivian standards, with a beach stretching approximately 2.5 kilometers. The island is lush with verdant vegetation, including numerous palm trees, and local residents cultivate vegetables and fruits on farms.

With only a handful of guesthouses and minimal tourist traffic, Kelaa offers the opportunity to experience the serenity of Robinson Crusoe-esque solitude on its endless beaches. As part of the Kelaa Island program, guests can engage in authentic Maldivian fishing experiences.

Vashafaru Island

The second island featured in the program is Vashafaru, accessible by a half-hour boat journey from Kelaa.

Vashafaru presents an idyllic setting for a tranquil, secluded getaway on its paradisiacal beaches beneath swaying palm trees. Visitors can also explore the nearby reef, encountering a diverse array of tropical marine fauna, including turtles, rays, and sharks.

In close proximity to Vashafaru lies an uninhabited island ideal for picnics and exploration. The region also offers numerous stunning dive and snorkeling sites, where encounters with mantas and dolphins are possible.

While snorkeling along the shore, guests may spot guitarfish (guitar sharks), with several individuals inhabiting the vicinity of Vashafaru's house reef. Additionally, the program features an off-site snorkeling excursion, providing the opportunity to explore the region's most captivating spots and, perhaps, swim alongside giant rays—mantas.

The estimated cost of the program for a ten-night stay for two individuals is $1745 (valid until the end of July), inclusive of accommodation, transfers, two meals daily, and excursions.
