Each Maldivian island has several shops, an island council, a mosque (usually several), a medical center (usually a small hospital with a qualified doctor), a kindergarten and a school. Maldivians love football very much, so on any island, even if only a hundred people live there, you will find a football field.
During the tour of the island, you will be shown the main infrastructure facilities and will be told about local life, or maybe you will be invited to have lunch with a Maldivian family. As a rule, a tour of the island where the guest house is located is free or very inexpensive.
Sometimes tourists are offered an excursion to one or more neighboring islands, the so-called island hopping. During such an excursion, you will be able to visit a neighboring inhabited island or several islands, see how the neighbors on the island live and feel a different atmosphere, which sometimes differs greatly from the way of life of the neighboring island, which can be only ten minutes away by boat.
